EXPERIENCE |
I started studying a Degree in Education to become a school teacher. I've always taught, from IT and Web Design to Salsa and Yoga! Teaching therapies seemed the natural progression. It’s so rewarding to know you are passing on the skills for healing. |
HOW I DISCOVERED THERAPIES |
I only booked a Reiki session as I was at a very low point in my life, but I instantly knew I had to learn it – this was the beginning of an amazing path of self-discovery!!! |
MY FAVOURITE THERAPY & WHY |
EFT, the second therapy I learnt, this simple but profound therapy works on practically any issue you can think of, it's so amazing seeing clients leave without the issue they came in with! I still use it most days for something big or small - when our energy system (Meridians) is balanced things just don't bother us anymore..! |
MY FAVOURITE THINGS (a bit of fun) |
the colours magenta & turqoise, my 2 new kittens, Chai Latte spiced tea, reading, nature. Meditation, the power of the mind, NLP, manifesting. Personal study & development. |
MY PHILOSOPHY |
I have grown to believe (or should that be remember) that we are all naturally beautiful beings and can achieve anything! However this becomes clouded by ‘life’ and the limiting beliefs we’ve formed. I have found my journey with holistic therapies brings me closer to who I really am, I am still learning and always will be - my goal = permanent inner peace. |

Qualified Nurse, no longer practising due to a back injury. Regularly used Hopi and Reiki in my role as a district nurse (thankfully my employers were open to complementary therapies) I also set up my own complementary therapy business. On coming out of nursing I qualified as a lecturer in Further and Higher education teaching Health & Social Care. I am now also a qualified dog training instructor with the BIPDT and Canine First Responder. |
HOW I DISCOVERED THERAPIES |
One of my dogs, sadly no longer with us, suffered terrible problems with hip dysplaysia and fear of fireworks, in looking to find ways to help her I came across Reiki. I decided to do a course and try it for myself and my interest grew from there..the difference in animals after a session is just amazing. You can't auto-suggest to an animal, this convinced me that complementary therapies really do work! |
MY FAVOURITE THERAPY & WHY |
Indian Head Massage (& Tellington T-Touch on animals) It just sooooo wonderfully relaxing! I'd happily sit all day and receive IHM! |
MY FAVOURITE THINGS (a bit of fun) |
My beautiful, beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Colours red, black ,purple and gold, cats, cars, candles and incense, dragons, angels, faeries, fantasy, history (1600-1685 especially), the paranormal, my sword collection!! |

TUTOR NAME: Dan Newman
COUNTY: Wales
SUBJECTS TAUGHT: Meditation Teacher
EXPERIENCE: As a doctor of philosophy, I have vast experience of teaching
and writing in the social sciences. In recent years, I have begun to
expand my horizons and move into the realm of alternative and
complimentary therapies as both a practitioner and tutor.
HOW I DISCOVERED THERAPIES: In the past, I suffered problems from anxiety
and, eschewing the pharmaceutical route of conventional Western medicine,
I began looking for more holistic, natural means to combat my ailments. I
found my salvation in the range of alternative and complimentary therapies
that target the mind and modes of thinking, namely; counselling,
hypnotherapy and meditation.
MY FAVOURITE THERAPY & WHY: I favour meditation become it is the simplest
and most pure of all alternative and complimentary medicines; we all
engage in this practice everyday and, with a little guidance on how to
harness this, we can see the most wonderful effects, quickly and
efficiently improving our lives.
MY FAVOURITE THINGS: I write, record and perform music, enjoying
literature and gain some of my greatest pleasure from long cycle journeys.
In their own way, all these things offer me the opportunity to meditate
so, perhaps, it is most apt to suggest that I love meditation in all it's
myriad forms and manifestations.
MY PHILOSOPHY: I adhere to a strongly person-centred philosophy, that the
solutions to an individual's problems lie within themselves. I see myself
tasked with allowing such individuals to draw on their own resources and
harness the power that lies within themselves.

HOW I DISCOVERED THERAPIES |
I think that life can be full of challenges and people these days need to look after their mental health as well as their physical well being, we are all susceptible to anxiety, depression and other stress related issues, I wanted to find and practice treatments that would offer relief, relaxation and a coping strategy for people. |

Tutor Name : Cathy Nettles
County : Devon
Experience : My working life experience has taken me to many diverse places from, teaching drama to children, various administrative jobs at schools for special needs children & adults, to theatre work and for the last 6 – 8 years having my own Holistic Therapies business.
How I discovered therapies : I started my working life as an actress/singer and like many jobbing actors spent a number of months of the year out of work so I trained in Holistic Body Massage and Reflexology (so I would have a ‘portable’ extra income job!). Over the years I have gradually trained in more and more therapies from Aromatherapy, Aromatherapy facials, to Hot Stone Massage and Herbal Medicine and recently a BSc in Nutritional Medicine, as my interest and knowledge grew so did my realisation of how beneficial complementary therapies are and so gradually my Holistic Therapies business grew to become a full time occupation.
My favourite therapy & why: I have two favourite therapies, one body therapy (HOT STONE MASSAGE). It is such a nurturing and deeply therapeutic massage as the therapist and client connects to the ancient stones the warmth relaxing and releasing tight muscles the mind is free to drift and deeply relax. The other is a mind therapy, or really a mind, body & spirit therapy (MEDITATION). The mind is such powerful tool for healing whether it is a physical, mental or spiritual issue that needs attention. It can be used for profound work or for a quick 10 minute ‘me time’. Wonderful!
My philosophies: To live with compassion for yourself as well as for others. To strive to create balance within and without. To re-member the magic!
My favourite things (bit of fun): Nutrition, Holistic Therapies, animals, shamanism, organic gardening, the sea, folk music |

Crystal Therapy
EXPERIENCE
I have been working with crystals for several years for myself, family and friends but decided
it was about time to expand this and share the joy and help of crystals with others. I am also
a Reiki Practitioner and love the help that both therapies can give to people and animals.
HOW I DISCOVERED THERAPIES
I went to a Spiritualist about stress and work related issues many years ago, and she advised
some crystals to help - that was the beginning of a wonderful journey and way of life.
MY FAVOURITE THERAPY & WHY
It has to be Crystals because they have helped me so much and brought so much more
meaning to my life. To hear a client say that a crystal(s) has helped or made a difference for
them makes me feel happy and reinforces my belief in the good crystals give.
MY FAVOURITE THINGS (a bit of fun)
Dogs, Terry Prachett books, meditation, my crystals of course, a glass of wine and having a
day off to do whatever I want!!
MY PHILOSOPHY
I think we are all a miracle of nature but haven't reached our true potential yet. I love and
embrace the Spiritual journey I am on and give Blessings everyday for the Guides and
Angels that are with each and every one of us. |

Reflexology, Indian head Massage |
EXPERIENCE |
Have been a full time teacher for 15 years. Three years ago became interested in Holistic therapies and trained in a variety of ITEC courses – massage, reflexology, Indian Head massage and stone therapy. Still learning today as I am training as a sports massage therapist, stress manager and Nutrition adviser. I left full time teaching recently to teach part time and to establish my own holistic massage therapy treatments. |
HOW I DISCOVERED THERAPIES |
The first experience of me having holistic therapy occurred ten years ago. I had an aromatherapy treatment and I had never felt so relaxed or at peace before. I was literally in heaven. |
MY FAVOURITE THERAPY & WHY |
My favourite therapy has to be massage. I love the sensation of all those stressful knots in my body dissipating. I also practice meditation which aids my busy mind to stop and relax too. |
MY FAVOURITE THINGS (a bit of fun) |
Let’s see so many things I enjoy, my children, teaching, reading, tap dancing, watching science fiction films and listening to music. |
MY PHILOSOPHY |
As I have grown up and to continue to grow up (I see myself as always being the exploring child) I have realised that in order to be happy in life you need to be balanced. You need to be happy in such the simplest of things, like laughter of children, smell of coffee in the morning, sun shining and the breath that you breathe. I also believe that if we are to move forward as human beings we must seek the good in each other. |
Any other info… |
I am a qualified teacher and have taught for fifteen years. As you tutor I will be supportive, fun and creative. I have in depth knowledge and experience which I enjoy sharing with others. |
