ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
None, this course is suitable for beginners, as well as practicing therapists.

On completion of this course you will be:

  • entitled to add the letters “G.T.T. Dip. (name of course)” after your name.
  • qualified in your chosen therapy, enabling you to practice professionally.
  • confident and have in depth knowledge of your chosen subject.
  • able to gain insurance, therefore being covered to charge clients’ money for treatments. You will be introduced to recommended insurer details in the course. (It is your responsibility to gain suitable insurance, or to check with your current insurer that they cover your chosen therapy. It is advised that non UK residents check course suitablity for the country they wish to practise in.)

COURSE FORMAT:

  • Work at your own pace, take a break if life gets too busy. There are no time limits.
  • Blended learning -various learning methods and styles to keep things fresh and interesting.
    Segment 1 is via email, Segment 2 online, Segment 3 is mainly practical.
  • You will receive Segments 1 & 2 at the beginning, so you may work through one at a time, or work on them concurrently.
  • Revision questions at the end of each module.
  • You will be allocated your own Personal Tutor, receive on-going tutor support and feedback for each module.
  • Complete 3 case studies to consolidate your learning and practice your skills, as well as for reflection and development.
  • Optional practical workshops for some subjects.

For your first course with us you will do all 3 segments. For subsequent courses you only need to do segments 2 & 3.

SEGMENT 1: PRACTISING PROFESSIONALLY
(Can be studied concurrently with Segment 2 if you wish.)
-This segment is studied via email, with revision questions at the end of each module.

Module 1: The Practicing Therapist
-Taking care of yourself: grounding, balancing, protecting and cleansing your energy body
-Meditation & visualisation scripts, and exercises, for the therapist
-The Therapy Room
-Professional Ethics

Module 2: Anatomy & Physiology Primer
-Traditional A & P basics
-The Energy Body: Chakras, Aura, Meridians

Module 3: Legalities
- Health & Safety
- Insurance for the therapist, recommend insurer details
- Becoming self-employed, checklist

SEGMENT 2: THE SUBJECT MATERIAL
(Can be studied concurrently with Segment 1 if you wish.)
-This segment is studied online.
-In depth coverage of the subject.
-Uses a range resource of materials.

The best way to start on the path to becoming an herbalist is to become intimate with a few plants and learn the basics of herbal preparation.

This course will cover 25 herbs that you can find in your kitchen or backyard! They include Dandelion, Mullien, Yarrow, Nettle, Plantain, Calendula, Cleavers, Burdock, Yellow dock, Marshmallow, Red clover, Comfrey, Catnip, Chamomile, Alfalfa, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Flax, Fennel, Ginger, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Tumeric, and Garlic. Detailed descriptions with scientific names, constituents, associated aliments and recipes will be included. This class will also cover herbal consulting, herbal preparation, wildcrating. This course will also cover how to make herbal remedies for friends and family, basic herbal pharmacognosy, the spiritual aspect of healing, different types of herbal tradition such as Native American, Western herbalism, Folk medicine, and much more!

You will learn how to make infusions, decoctions, tinctures, fluid extracts, elixirs, essences and many other recipes. This class will also cover the healing philosophy of balance and the role and responsibilities of the community herbalist.  Begin your herbal journey with me today!

Finding your path as an herbalist will be covered. The role of the community herbalist. History or herbal medicine. Western Herbal Medicine, Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, Shamanism.

This lesson will cover balance and the holistic lifestyle, Wheel of life exercise, Consulting with clients.

Lesson 3: Herbal Pharmacognosy

Definitions of Herbal and Medical Terminology Active Constituents in Plants

Lesson 4: Wildcrafting, Harvesting and Storage

This course covers gathering plants in the wild, harvesting and storage

Lesson 5: Making Herbal Medicines 1

Material, herbal dosages, administering herbs,Tinctures, & Solvents. General guidelines for making all forms of herbal medicines and tonics

Lesson 6: Making Herbal Medicines 2

Dosages, Decoctions, Infusions, poultices, powders, capsules, tea, sun extract, cold extract, bolus, Salves, steams, herbal baths, electuary, children's recipe, basic herbal vinegar.

Lesson 7: Wonderful Weeds 1 A

Uses, harvesting, medicinal qualities for: Dandelion, Mullein,& Yarrow

Lesson 8: Wonderful Weeds 1B

This lesson will cover Stinging nettle, Calendula, Plantain & Cleavers

Lesson 9: Wonderful Weeds Part 2

This lesson will cover Burdock, Yellow Dock, Marshmallow root, & Red clover in detail.

Lesson 10: Wonderful Weeds Part 2 B

This lesson will cover Comfrey, Catnip, & Chamomile in detail

Lesson 11: Medicinal Herbs Found in Your Kitchen Part 1 A

Herbs covered in this lesson are Alfalfa, Black Pepper, Cinnamon

Lesson 12: Medicinal Herbs Found in Your Kitchen Part 1B

This lesson will cover Flax, Fennel, & Garlic in detail.

Lesson 13: Medicinal Herbs Found in Your Kitchen Part 2 A

This Class covers Ginger, Parsley & Rosemary,

Lesson 14: Medicinal Herbs Found in Your Kitchen Part 2 B

This lesson will cover Sage, Thyme, & Turmeric

SEGMENT 3: CASE STUDIES
Putting it all together in preparation for case studies. Experiental exercises and practical work.
